Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte (born 2 May 1983), known professionally as Mon Laferte, is a Chilean singer-songwriter and actress who is currently the most listened to Chilean artist on Spotify worldwide. She is also the Chilean artist with the most nominations in a single edition of the Latin Grammy Awards.
Mon Laferte's taste for music manifested itself at an early age, where she achieved great recognition in his native Chile. Later, she settled in Mexico City. In 2016, she released her album Mon Laferte Vol. 1 with which he won two MTV Awards, two nominations for EMA's MTV Awards, including Best New North Artist. This album was consolidated as one of the most important in Latin America and achieved certifications in different countries of the continent. In Peru it was a platinum record, Mexico awarded it the quadruple platinum plus gold record. In Chile she received sixteen platinum records. In addition to all this, she won two Latin Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album of the Year.
For 2017, she achieved international recognition with a historical presentation in Viña del Mar, where she received the Silver and Gold Seagull. This same year, she presented his La Trenza production, which in a short time became a diamond disc plus gold in Mexico having collaborations with Enrique Bunbury, Juanes and Manuel García.
In 2018 she premiered his fifth material, Norma, with 10 songs recorded in a single session at the legendary studios of Capitol Records in Los Angeles, under the production of Omar Rodríguez - López. Listed by Billboard and Rolling Stone as one of the best Latin albums of 2018. A great year where she was invited to the concert of Plácido Domingo in Chile as well as participating in the Lollapalooza edition of that country, she toured 20 cities in the United States together with Juanes (Amarte Tour) with more than 100 thousand attendees, led the MTV Miaw Awards in Mexico, was nominated for the Latin Grammy for Best Song of the Year, appeared twice at the Austin City Limits Festival in Texas and to close the year, participated next to Gwen Stefani in The Voice and Jimmy Kimmel Show in the United States.
In 2019 she was one of the Latin artists at the Coachella Festival and shared the stage with Jay Balvin, Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala. During her recent sold out shows at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, she was awarded for double platinum record in Chile and for double platinum record in Mexico for the album Norma, as well as receiving a special recognition for more than 1.5 million albums sold worldwide by Vol. 1, La Trenza and Norma.
On a historic night in Las Vegas, Mon Laferte stands as the winner of Latin GRAMMY® in the category of "Best Alternative Music Album" with her latest record production Norma. The Latin American musical star became the most named artist worldwide by raising her voice for the political situation of her country through an act that places her as one of the most powerful voices on the continent and its causes.
After the releases of "Paisaje Japonés", "Chilango Blues" and "Canción de Mierda" where she resumed her alternative beginnings, Mon Laferte surprisingly premiered the theme of protest "Plata Ta Tá" along with Guaynaa, being her first foray into Urban music.
She was nominated for the "Latin Album of the Year" by Billboard Magazine, won the MTV EMA award as "Best North American Latin Artist" and the MTV MIAW for "El Beso" as "Video of the Year."
To start 2020 Mon Laferte closes #LaGiraDeNorma before 14 thousand people at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City and then launch Sola Con Mis Monstruos, a live album with which she will undertake the #MonLaferteAcústico tour. This recording was made at the end of 2019 on her two completely sold out dates at the Lunario del Auditorio Nacional. With the release of this album, Mon has managed to position itself in #1 of physical and digital sales in Mexico.
